Methylchloroisothiazolinone
Methylchloroisothiazolinone (MCI) is a preservative that's active against bacteria, yeast, and fungi. It's used in the manufacture of water-based cosmetics and personal care products. It is most often applied to cleaning products as a synthetic preservative. This chemical is used to extend a product's shelf life and protect consumers against exposure to bacteria and mold by inhibiting the growth of those organisms.
